ZEN Pinball 2: Ant-Man (PS4) Review

Another Marvel table that is totally fine.

With a new Marvel movie comes a new marvel Pinball table from Zen Studios. This time around we take on the role of Hank Pym and Scott Lang, as Lang trains to become the Ant-Man. It is a complex table to begin with, but after some exploring, it becomes a methodical high point scoring table that players can learn to have a pretty fun time.

There are multiple lanes to fire the ball at, and each one has a certain purpose, but the middle left lane is the one that can gather the points for high scores. Missions are a bit tricky to start to begin with, and it wasn’t as apparent as I would have hoped for when I first booted up the table. After taking a look at the manual, it was a different story. The unique skill shot has the player trying to launch the ball with a certain force, or holding a flipper for the correct timing. It adds a bit to the beginning of a new ball that can actually offer up some great points.

Of course, Scott can shrink down to miniature size for some exploration in the smaller areas underneath the table where the ball and speed becomes more frantic. While the ball saves are easy to activate, I couldn’t help but notice that the ball just seemed to want to go into the outside lanes, and the way these lanes are set up, it was a bit difficult to nudge the ball back into play.

The music is pretty standard, but never offensive, and the voice acting is not overly annoying. The presentation is well done, and the use of colors is easy on the eyes and allows the ball to be seen with ease even at high velocities.

While still not driving it out of the park like they did with Wild West Rampage and Venom, Ant-Man is a solid table that I suggest pinball fans pick up. It has some unique things going for it, and stands out more than the last Marvel table, Age of Ultron.
