More Star Wars, more pinball.
It’s been a while, but I’m finally back with another Zen Pinball table review. This time to coincide with the new Star Wars movie, we get a table pack themed around The Force Awakens. Both of which are pretty entertaining, although one is much more of a standout for me.
The two tables are themed on the different sides of the force – the light side and the dark side. The light side one, called simply The Force Awakens, has players on Jakku helping out missions with Rey, Fin, and BB8. This tale requires some accuracy when it comes to hitting correct lanes and objects. There is a door in the center of the table that the ball just loves to go towards. This will then send the ball flying straight down, usually in between the two flippers. It honestly got on my nerves a few times when all I was trying to do was hit a lane.

There’s also a BB8 mini game involved if players can hit the right order for it to activate. The Force Awakens table seemed to be a faster paced table, almost too fast especially when hitting bumpers. It was a more skill-based table overall.
The second table for the dark side is Might of the First Order. This one takes place on a space ship, possibly a Star Destroyer (I have not seen the film yet) where players take on the likes of Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma. This was the more enjoyable table for me due to the ease of hitting lanes, skill shot capabilities, and the multiball potential. There is a lower portion of the table underneath the top portion that has two flippers as well, which is used for multiball purposes when locking balls into slots. It works and works well. By far, this is one of the better tables Zen Studios has put out.
Both tables look and sound great, and the music used in each table gives off that classic Star Wars feel. Zen Studios has always done a great job with their look and sounds of most of their tables.
It’s always difficult to talk about pinball tables. While tables are subjective in many ways, I can say I enjoyed my time with both, but had much more fun with Might of the First Order. Both tables are a fine addition to the Zen Pinball series, and fans of pinball should more than likely pick this pack up.
