Outlaw Golf

Over the years golf games have come and they have gone. From such classics as Golf for the NES to the likes of Hot Shots on the Playstation golf is a sport that can be enjoyed by anyone. Using themes and different play styles developers have been able to draw in all types of gamers to enjoy 18 holes with them. Now that most of us gamers have grown up our tastes have changed and Hypnotix has heard our call! Bringing strippers, lesbians, drunks, and wannabe rappers all together for one incredible round of skins this game has attitude to spare.

I will start with the basics, visual. The game is gorgeous, volumetric grass, intense lighting effects and the character models…ahem curves are very well rounded hehe. The frame rate never misses a beat, of course this is golf we are talking about, and the courses are so finely detailed you can see birds flapping overhead and trailers in the lot LOL! The subtle effects used here are awesome, you really get a sense of down home golfing when you are shooting your ball through and underpass or over top of a ski lift, the personality never stops.

The characters in OG are absolutely the best part. From strippers to drunks this game is in a class of it’s own. They also sport some of the best voice work ever in a sports game. The Irish bred boy talks about his mom spanking his arse, while the ditsy lesbian chatters on about how if she were a bird she would poop here and here and here and twice here. It will have you in a riot. The announcer has a few witty comments sometimes, the rest of the time he is plain weak and annoying. Unfortunately there are no custom soundtracks and the one included in the game sounds like it was done in Acid in about fifteen minutes…such a shame.

So we have elegant visuals and superb sound what about the damn game play? Well if you have ever played Tiger Woods for the PS2 then you will feel right at home. You use the right analog stick to control your swing. Pull it back to build up the guage and when it’s at the set amount you swift it forward, but remember to keep it straight or you will slice that baby! The coolest aspect about shooting is the compsure meter, if you slice and end up in the rough or take a dive into the sand trap your compsure goes down as does your ability to play well. Keep your compsure high, if you need a boost just kick your caddy’s ass. It is a good way to keep your compsure up as well as being a shit load of fun! You will have to earn beating tokens though, those are aquired by getting birdies so get your game on.

Well after my babbling is over you are wondering is there any reason not to buy the game? Yes, the game can be on the difficult side especially for those that are impatient. The learning curve is a bit high so unless you are willing to put the time in do not bother with this one. Otherwise get your asses to the game store and get your copies of the best golf game of all time.
