Onimusha Warlords

Yeah baby, Capcom returns the Resident Evil style to the next-gen PS2 console. This game makes me anticipate Resident Evil 4 so badly. Onimusha is a survival horror title that takes place in feudal Japan. It consists of a ninja by the name of Samanosuke and you are destined to save the princess…a cookie cutter plot you say? Well how about the zombies…er I mean the undead Japanese warriors that are out to kill you? Sound like classic Capcom survivial horror? It is.

From the first time you watch the opening movie to the roll of the final credits this game screams presentation. The in game graphics are stunning even if the backgrounds are pre-rendered. The character models are amazing sporting individual fingers and moving mouths and eyes. Capcom sure knows how to model kick ass characters.

The music is orchestrated so well it makes you feel as if you are there. The voices are very well done and the sound effects are incredible. Crank up the dolby surround baby because this one rocks the house.

Typical Resident Evil style here. Up is always forward and so on and so forth. The difference is that Onimusha is about ten times faster. You can slide back to evade enemies and the attack system is much faster than any previous RE game. The lock on system is nice and the combos are awesome!

This is a must own PS2 title for fans of RE style or action/adventure games in general. This game should sit next to the other great titles on your PS2 and be proud to be there. Definitely a candidate for game of the year…kudos Capcom!
