With a movie release on the horizon, Zen Studios is giving Captain America some love with a release of a pinball table add-on for the comic book inspired hit Marvel Pinball. This table continues the trend that they started a few months ago, hosting its own fan-service for the character. This table does not disappoint for fans of both the comic book and pinball itself, as it makes you keep coming back for more, regardless of which category you fall into.
The table features many characters from the Captain America universe, and as I am not a huge Marvel follower, I will still go on to say that there is definitely a lot to like here. With characters from the comic book walking across the screen at every turn, and a very war-torn, World War II atmosphere, I did my background homework, and this lives up to the hype. The table is colorful, bright and brings a lot of heroic music and battlefield sound effects into the mix.
The ball physics are great, and there a lot of ways you can handle racking up the score. With certain villains and other characters from the comic making appearances, there are side missions that you can undertake to rack up the numbers on your score. You can knock your ball into the Cosmic Cube, and Baron Zemo is the main villain. You’ll have to stop his Adhesive X by knocking your ball into certain areas of the table, recover from his death ray and skirmish with the Red Skull.
There really is a lot to do, and many ways to increase your score, so no round really feels the same. The only gripe of the gameplay I have is that sometimes the ball moves around the table so much that you can’t keep track of it, and before you know it you lose the ball, and have to start your streak over again. It’s a minor hindrance, but doesn’t detract from the table overall.
The table feels unique and polished, and is definitely a great pick up if you are a fan of the comics. Even if you aren’t, there is a lot of pinball to love here, and it is a great way to pass the time during the summer months, if you are looking to scratch that itch.
