In the realms of first person shooters one has stood the test of time as far as being one of the greats. That would be Doom DUH! Seriously though I never did get why so many people thought Half Life was that great of a game. As a first person shooter it was actually kinda tame and boring. I guess it was the story that dragged everyone into the game. Nevertheless the game has earned more props than any other in it’s time for being so damned good, so how does it translate to console?

Graphically it pales to other console FPS games to date. The character models, although better than the PC original kinda feel dated next go others in this field. The levels are still nicely done and very atmospheric, but for the power of the PS2 this hardly even challenges it.

The audio of Half Life has always been great, the ambience is excellent and the sound effects are top notch. The main complaint is that the music is well….non existent. I guess for the type of game that it is you cannot expect too much but something is better than nothing.

Controlling Half Life is exactly like all other FPS games on the PS2 so get used to the two analog use. I hear more complaints about that in one day than I hear anything else. People say it is too hard, well if you spent as much time playing and learning as you did bitching you would be kicking ass by now!

I guess I don’t have a whole lot to say about this game other than it is a solid PS2 title. The fans of the game will eat it alive and probably give it game of the year on PS2…I guess. Nothing to make me wanna buy it but decide for yourselves. This is yet another mediocre title to throw in my PS2 bin enjoy!
