The standard fair can be found in this final episode. The point and click control scheme and game play mechanics all remain the same. There are, of course, new puzzles and new dialog choices. The puzzles this time around are pretty straightforward. I was never really taken aback by any of the problems. Of course, the hint system is still there for you, and it is amazing, as always. One thing this game series has consistently accomplished is to allow the player to progress without problems.
The story is fantastic. You get to see the actual villain emerge for the first time. There are a ton of revelations and plot twists to be discovered, and the finale ends on such an awesome note. TellTale Games have really outdone themselves with this series. It really does feel like one of the movies. The voice work and acting are top notch, and the real Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) makes a guest appearance later on in the episode.
As far as this episode is concerned, it is one of the best in the season. It wraps up all the plotlines and does a fantastic job of it. Of course, there are a few graphical glitches here and there and, for some reason, every episode has had an audio glitch where the voices will cut out for a sentence or two, but it only happens once per episode. Other than that, it’s a great conclusion to the story.
As for the entire series, I can’t recommend this game enough. If you are a fan of Back to the Future, this is a must play. Even if you’re not a fan of point and click adventures, TellTale has done such a great job with player progression that you never feel stuck at all while playing. After seeing the ending, this game is one of the best adventure games I have played in a very long time.
