Ubisoft have today announced that they have partnered up with film production company, New Regency, to help get their Splinter Cell movie off the ground.
New Regency have produced a long line of Hollywood hits over their twenty years in the business, including Fight Club, LA Confidential and Mr & Mrs Smith.
The Splinter Cell movie gain traction last month when it was announced that British actor Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) was attached to play the role of Sam Fisher.
“With actor Tom Hardy attached and screenwriter Eric Warren Singer to write the script, Ubisoft Motion Pictures will lead the development with the support of New Regency to bring the franchise to the big screen in a dynamic way,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer, Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “For Ubisoft Motion Pictures, creative control is key and New Regency shares our commitment to respecting the creative freedom of our team. Their ability to produce both blockbusters and intriguing indie hits is an ideal fit for the Splinter Cell franchise.”
With both Assassin’s Creed and Uncharted movies in the works, could this be the start of a beautiful relationship between games and films?
