Super Spy, James Bond, has vanished without a trace, as Activision pull their James Bond games from both Steam and their own online download store.
Neogamr noticed that three of the James Bond games were pulled earlier today from both download services, without any word as to why. The three games are Quantum of Solace, 007 Bloodstone and 007 Legends (which is only a few months old). Our only guess is that Activision may be giving up their right to publish 007 games, a deal which was due to end next year. This could be down to poor sales of the games, all of which received middling reviews and less than stellar sales. Both publishers of 007 Bloodstone (Bizarre Creations) and 007 Legends (Eurocom) were shut down shortly after their games release.
If it is a case of Activision dropping the license, who would want to pick it up? Could any publisher do right by such a lucrative franchise? It isn’t as if James Bond isn’t popular; Skyfall, the most recent film, has just passed the $1 Billion mark, proving that James Bond is more in demand than ever before.
