Ellen Page Unhappy with The Last of Us Ellie Likeness

Along with having a similar name, Ellie the young heroine from Naughty Dog‘s amazing The Last of Us also shares a visual resemblance to actress Ellen Page. This is something that hasn’t been lost on anyone with an interest in the game, with Naughty Dog even changing the character model before the game’s release.

However, yesterday Ellen Page took to the popular social forum Reddit to do an AMA (Ask Me Anything), in which she responded to a fan’s question about the likeness.

“This has almost certainly been made clear to you several times, but are you aware how much you look like Ellie from “The Last of Us,” a video game which came out about a week ago. She even sounds like you. So much so that almost everyone assumed it was you playing the role.”

Ellen answered by saying:

“I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated.”

The game Ellen mentioned, Beyond: Two Souls is the latest game from Quantic Dream, the developers behind Heavy Rain. Ellen Page is the lead star on the game and will be joined by veteran actor Willem Defoe.

Maybe Naughty Dog will contact her and extend an Olive branch. In the meantime, you can do yourself a favor and buy The Last of Us.

This is old news but the more I really think about it, Ellen Page had the opportunity to be apart of one of the greatest games in the history of gaming. This game broke new ground in story telling/writing, game directing, character building, voice acting, sound/music, world design and the list goes on. I have been gaming since Atari 2600 and I have never been more proud to be a gamer then after I played and finished The Last of Us. I’m excited to see more games like it. Ellen should have kept her mouth shut.

You may have started playing with the good ol 2600 (like I did) but you cant have played much games since then…or else YOU would have kept your mouth shut. You cant be serious with this ridiculuosness, are you?!

No I’m dead serious. This game blew me away. I obviously wasn’t the only gamer to think so either. Other then the (AI) Artificial intelligence lacking this game was nearly flawless. I really felt immersed in the story and never wanted it to really end. The game has no real replay value like you average online FPS, but for an on the road adventure game it is truly a money’s worth game. The Last of Us gives the player at least 15 hours of awesome game play.

I wouldnt be to happy either if my likeness would appear in such a horrid game like last of us…this game is a total bomb!
