Could Sony be Dropping the Dual Shock Controller

UK gaming website, CVG, have been told by a ‘senior studio source’, who is working on a future Playstation 4 game, that Sony will be laying the Duel Shock Controller to rest.

Instead of the now iconic design, the new controller could include an LCD screen in the centre of the pad, as well as biometric sensors on the back. The report states:

Experiments within Sony’s R&D department are thought to have been extensive. Versions of the new PS4 pad include biometric sensors on the grips and an LCD touch screen, the development source claimed.

Is there still life left in the old controller, or is it time for a change? With the new emphasis on touch screen controls with the Wii U, are sony hoping that they can do better?
