It has been a long and bumpy road for Jason West and Vince Zampella, the former heads on Infinity Ward. After being fired from their positions as studios heads, shortly after the release of Modern Warfare 2, they have fought Activision, blow for blow, while trying to set up their new studio, Respawn Entertainment.
They were suing Activision for being unfairly dismissed and for loss of bonuses; while Activision were suing them right back for insubordination and sabotage. It all made for interesting reading! The final battle was to take place this week, as they both went to court of finally put this to rest and it was looking like West and Zampella were in the driving seat (Activision had set aside $1 Billion, just in case they lost!). However, we have just found out that the case has been settle out of court, under strictly confidential terms.
The seperate case involving 40 other former Infinty Ward employees was also settled, but again with no information as to what deal was struck.
We may never know what happened behing the courtroom doors, but at least they can all put this behind them and get on with maing entertaining games.
